The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious affairs, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng has made a passionate appeal to the Northern Regional House of Chiefs to adopt the “Alternative Dispute Resolution” mechanism in finding lasting solutions to Chieftaincy issues rather than the judicial system.
He added also that qualifications regarding the line of succession should be done quickly to prevent the numerous Chieftaincy issues.
On Tuesday, 06 June 2023 in Tamale, the joined the Northern Regional House of Chiefs for their sixth sitting of the General House meeting to hold deliberations with them on issues of concern to the Chieftaincy Institutions.
Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng confirmed that the rehabilitation of the Conference Hall of the House has already been assigned to a contractor (Boison Construction Limited) who has started work and assured them of its completion before his next visit. He called on traditional authorities to embrace the fact that our tradition cannot be thrown away which is why the 1992 Constitution guaranteed and preserved the institutions of Chieftaincy under “The Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (ACT 759).
The Northern Regional House of Chiefs in expressing their appreciation to the Honourable Minister presented to him a special traditional smock which was also to reaffirm their collective desire to effectively collaborate with the sector minister in the execution of his mandate for the success of the Chieftaincy institutions.
