||Agortime and Ave-Dapke Traditional Councils Inaugurated||

As part of efforts by government to enhance development at the traditional and rural communities,  government through the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has inaugurated the Agortime  and Ave- Dakpe Traditional Areas into a Traditional Council.

This status will afford the areas the opportunity to whoo investors into the various communities while ensuring the availability of government presence to cater for the administrative needs of the area.

The inauguration which came off on Tuesday,  8th October 2024 will see the Council office as per the Chieftaincy Act 759 being headed by a Paramount Chief who will be the  President of the Council and a Traditional Council Registrar employed by  the Office of the Head of Civil Service. They will be provided with a full complement of the civil service office setup.

In a speech read of behalf of the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious , Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng  by the Chief Registrar at the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs,  Mr Baafi Nsiah he assured the newly inducted councils that government will support them with the needed logistics and personnel to operate fully as councils.

While congratulating the Council Members, he urged the Presidents of the Councils,  Nene Neur Keteku IV of Agortime and Togbiga Nyamekor Glkpey V  of Ave – Dakpe with their  newly sworn-in Council members to study the Chieftaincy Act to understand the processes and procedure involved in resolving conflicts using the judicial and arbitration systems as well as other alternative methods.

Both Presidents expressed their excitement in their inaugural address and called on government to fast track the posting of personnel to the Council to enable them start full operations. They also assured government to ensure Chieftaincy disputes will not be their bedrock rather they will strike to work amicably with their Council members to ensure development.
