The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Stephen Asamaoh Boateng in a meeting at the National House of Chiefs said, the Ministry would soon establish a Chieftaincy Management System (CMS), which would facilitate the connection and collaboration among chiefs that would preserve the rich Ghanaian culture, eliminate harmful cultural practices among others.

He called on chiefs to actively contribute to the peace building process and ensure that next year’s elections were conducted in a peaceful, free, and fair atmosphere.

The Minister said these at his second meeting of the National House of Chiefs on Thursday 21st December 2023 in Kumasi

Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, said the Ministry, through the Houses, had been able to resolve a good number of chieftaincy disputes in the country.

He also expressed deep appreciation to Nananom for the immense support they provided to the Religious sector during the Regional Consultations on the proposed National Policy on Religion held in all Sixteen (16) regions.

‘’I have been working with you on an extensive review of the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759) with the view of amending sections to reflect current trends and address identified gaps adversely affecting its smooth implementation. This policy reform agenda is currently pending before your royal scrutiny, and I am eagerly waiting for, Nananom, in order to take it to Cabinet and to Parliament’’.

I am happy to announce that I have secured budgetary allocation, albeit an initial sum from Government to commence the construction of the six (6) Regional Houses of Chiefs within the newly created Regions as well as continue other smaller office building projects in other regions that have been pending for some time now.

He further expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Nananom who supported him and the Ministry in 2023. Your leadership, wisdom and guidance have been invaluable in advancing our shared vision and goals for the development and prosperity of our dear nation. However, he called on chiefs to release lands for more investments anytime the need arises.
