||I Don’t Endorse Anything outside Religion and Culture – Hon. Asamoah Boateng||
The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (MCRA) Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng has assured religious bodies that he will not endorse the practice of homosexuality (LGBQT++) as it does not form part of the Ghanaian culture.
He was of the believe that as Ghanaians, it is appropriate to embrace the Ghanaian culture and belief as it is improper to import a lifestyle which is neither part of the Ghanaian culture nor religion.
The Minister made these comments when the Leadership of Eckankar paid a courtesy call on him on Thursday, 6th April 2023 at the Ministry in Accra to officially welcome him as well as inform the Minister about their upcoming events.
In his submission, Hon. Asamoah Boateng expressed his enthusiasm on how the Leadership of Eckankar is well organized with their activities and the premium they place on details. He pledged the Ministry’s continuous support to them, adding that the Ministry will collaborate with all religious bodies to ensure that they receive their inputs as this can contribute to the smooth running of the Ministry as well as aid in the country’s development.
The Honourable Minister said chieftaincy is a very important and powerful institution same as the religious affairs aspect of the Ministry, adding that though the two are separate entities, he hopes that they can all come together to work for the good of Mother Ghana.
Hon. Asamoah Boateng urged the Leadership to communicate with all the necessary institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Ministry of the Interior and the Security Agencies to enable them to have a successful seminar.
For his part, the President of Eckankar, Aspect Caqiuo provided details of their upcoming annual global seminar which will be hosted by the Ghana Chapter from the 25th to 27th August, 2023 at the temple in Accra. He said the launch will be on the 9th of May, 2023 and invited the Minister to attend.
He explained that as part of the global event, on 27th August, there will be a public workshop on the theme; ‘Getting your own Answers from God’, stressing that Eckankar believes in moving from being religious to being spiritual, adding that spirituality makes the being in tune with light and sound.
The Ag. Chief Director for the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Kananpe Wurche Fati Lily Soale, commended the Leadership of Eckankar for the courtesy call and further assured them of the Ministry’s support in all their activities because the Ministry is their home.
