||MCRA BEGINS INAUGURATION OF 35 TRADITIONAL COUNCIL||

The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng has reiterated government’s commitment to ensure Staff and logistics are provided to newly inaugurated Dofor and Volo Traditional Councils to aid in their operations.
He noted that all this falls under the mandate of the Ministry which is stated in the Chieftaincy Act 2008 ( Act 759) , that every Paramountcy shall have a Traditional Council, adding that this will aid in the administration of the Chieftaincy institution, formation of Judicial Committees and adjudication of cases. Hon. Asamoah Boateng made these comments in a speech read on his behalf by the Chief Registrar of the Ministry, Mr Baafi Nsiah on Monday, 18th November, 2024 in the Volta Region as part of efforts to inaugurate 35 Traditional Councils.

The Volta Regional Registrar, who has been coordinating this exercise, Mr Harry Attippoe emphasized the need for Chiefs to make use of their Judicial committees and follow the right process rather than giving their monies to lawyers. He reminded the Chiefs and the newly inaugurated council members that the Chieftaincy institution is a revered institution hence issues of Chieftancy must be handled internally rather than making it public. Mr Attippoe expressed the hope that the newly inaugurated Councils will use their office to canvas for development and make the institution proud.

Called for unity among the Council members and urged the divisional Queen mothers who championed the process to ensure the encourage others to be gazetted. He also called on them to ensure they work towards getting the needed resources to aid in the smooth running of the Councils.
