||MCRA Minister Worried over Level of Moral Decay in the Ghanaian Society||
The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has voiced concerns over the high degree of moral deterioration in the Ghanaian culture. He noted that the rate at which youth immorality and indiscipline are growing is alarming.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, he asked traditional rulers to revisit and regenerate old cultural systems that would restore positive moral values into the society.
The Minister made the call at a durbar to climax the Donkese Festival of the Chiefs and people of Breman Essiam in the Central Region. It was on the theme, ” let’s connect, collaborate and celebrate to build our community’’
Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng restates the government’s resolve to uphold and deepen its current relationship with traditional leaders.
According to him, traditional rulers are the people’s representatives, and government would always value and acknowledge the contribution that chiefs and queenmothers make to the development of the nation.
Hon. Asamoah Boateng indicated that, government was committed to repair roads, provide access to healthcare, increase education, and create jobs for young people.
He emphasized that stability, development, were paramount as this year’s election depended on peace, and urged traditional leaders to utilize communication to mend and settle current conflicts to promote development in Ghana.
Odeefo Afankwa III, Omanhene of the Breman Essiam Traditional Area, noted that the celebration was aimed at encouraging peaceful co-existence by reigniting the people’s customary link, relationship, and allegiance.
He urged the citizenry to set aside political affiliations, present a united front, and provide their full support to the Breman Essiam District Assembly’s initiatives to expedite the district’s rapid socio-economic growth.
