||Proposed Policy on Religion to Promote Peaceful Coexistence||

The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng has indicated that the proposed National Policy on Religion will not only address challenges and opportunities that may arise from the coexistence of different faiths and beliefs in society, however, the policy seeks to promote a harmonious coexistence.

In a statement read on his behalf, the Minister noted that the proposed policy will provide a framework for the protection and promotion of the rights and freedoms of all religious groups, while preventing conflict that may arise from religious differences.

He made these statement at the Regional Stakeholders Consultation workshop on proposed National Policy on Religion held on Thursday, 23rd November 2023 in Koforidua, Eastern Region by the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs with partnership from the United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA).

The Regional Stakeholder Consultation workshop which began on Monday, 20th November, 2023 is being held concurrently in other regional capitals as Thursday also saw Western North Region, Ashanti Region and the Northern Region taking their turns. The final phase of the regional consultation is expected to take place on Monday, 27th November, 2023 at Greater Accra Region and Upper West Region at the same time.
